Reliable Cellular Connectivity for Remote and High-Security Data Centers
Engineered for the connectivity demands of large scale data centers
Data centers are the digital backbone of today’s economy—but their often-remote locations and secure, signal-blocking construction materials can make in-building cellular connectivity nearly impossible. Wilson Connectivity delivers robust, enterprise-grade cellular signal amplification solutions designed specifically for the needs of hyperscale and colocation data centers. Our systems enable always-on connectivity for essential staff communication, secure remote monitoring, access control systems, and emergency response—all without compromising network security or facility operations. With proven experience in large-scale deployments, including for major tech companies, Wilson’s solutions are built to scale with your data infrastructure.
Signal Solutions Built for Data Centers
Reliable Coverage in Remote Locations
Data centers are often located in areas with weak commercial cellular signal. Wilson systems bring strong, consistent coverage to even the most isolated facilities—ensuring uninterrupted communication across operations.Support for Onsite Teams and Technicians
Whether coordinating maintenance, troubleshooting systems, or responding to alerts, technicians need instant, reliable communication. Our solutions provide seamless coverage throughout large data halls, server rooms, and control centers.
Meta Turns to Wilson to Bring Connectivity to Data Center
Facebook’s data center in New Albany, Ohio, built with conductive materials like metal roofing and an enclosed structure, had severely limited in‑building cellular signal—making it difficult for engineers to make calls, send texts, or receive messages indoors. To solve this, Facebook engaged Wilson (via Illuminati Labs & Turner Construction) to install a repeater system that covered the building’s office areas without disrupting employee work. Once activated, the system delivered immediate improvements in signal strength, eliminating issues of unreachable communication indoors.
- Data center’s metal roof and construction acted as a Faraday cage, blocking cellular signal indoors
- Engineer staff faced inability to make/receive calls or texts, and had to step outside for connectivity
- Wilson Connectivity repeater system was selected as a viable, cost-efficient solution
- Installation managed around ongoing operations (night shifts, elevated work, safety compliance)
- After installation, indoor coverage improved significantly—calls, texts, and emails worked from inside without leaving the building

Bringing Cell Coverage to Massive Switch Data Center in Grand Rapids
When Switch converted the Pyramid building in Grand Rapids into a 225,000-square-foot data center campus, poor indoor cellular coverage—especially in the basement and other critical interior zones—posed both a functionality and customer‑experience problem. Wilson Connectivity, through integrator RSRF, designed and installed a comprehensive repeater‑based in‑building signal solution that uses multiple donor and indoor antennas to deliver reliable coverage on every floor and in the basement. With 13 repeaters and 106 panel and dome antennas, the upgraded facility now provides strong, multi‑carrier cell signal throughout, enhancing operations, accessibility, and communication for staff, visitors, and clients alike.
- Large glass, steel, and concrete structure initially had no signal in the basement and weak signal in executive and meeting areas
- Site survey conducted quickly, product design and quote delivered in under one week
- System included 13 Wilson repeaters, new rooftop donor Yagi antenna, and 106 indoor antennas
- Coverage extended across all floors—including basement and executive offices—on every major carrier
